Grants
Application Requirements and Guidelines
Healthy Food + Happy Students = Better Health, Growth, and Behavior
Culinary Action for Education is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for small grants that will encourage the eating of fresh, healthy, nutritious food, and nutrition education in the public schools and community of Mount Shasta.
Our goal at CAFE is to provide healthy food that our young people and community like eating -- food that grows strong bodies, bright minds, and balanced emotions. We hope to bring the community together to ensure healthy meals for Mount Shasta students and to provide an understanding of and an appreciation for real food that is delicious, local, organic, and fresh. CAFE is eager to support your projects and our grants will reimburse you for your project expenses!
Some of our recent projects include providing a serving of organic fruit to Sisson and MSE students accompanied by a Harvest of the Month nutrition education handout, Fresh Fruit Friday at the High School School Student Store, Farmers’ Market Vouchers that enable youth to shop at the Farmers’ Market, Holiday Food Bags, and financial support for the MSE School Garden.
We have two types of grants that we are offering at this time. Teachers or staff members may apply for a grant for their students' projects and community members may apply for a grant for their community project or event.
*Please allow us a minimum of 21 days to review your application and provide our first response.*
We want to help fund and support your next project or event’s contribution to providing healthy food to our families and the community.

Community Grants
Grant Criteria for Community Events or Projects
Grants must be in alignment with the mission and goals of Culinary Action for Education as stated in the introduction. Grant applications may be submitted by an adult sponsor. It is recommended that project sponsors and young people work together to build and implement the project.
Projects and programs will be chosen based on their potential to provide broad, significant benefits for the future of children and youth. Eligibility and grant amounts will be determined based on the number of children and youth impacted by the project. We prioritize programs that are public, free, and accessible, with a particular focus on supporting Indigenous, People of Color, unhoused, or underserved youth in Siskiyou County.
We will consider grant requests for up to $2,500. We reimburse for project expenses. No labor costs are paid by the grant. Multiple requests will be considered.
